Martina Navratilova criticized Republican politician Mark Robinson over his comment on gymnast Simone Biles. Amidst the Olympics and the general elections in the US, Robinson’s remarks, which he made in 2021, resurfaced and has gone viral again.
Robinson, the Lieutenant Governor of North Carolina, called Biles a “week gymnast” after she withdrew from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The eight-time Olympic medalist suffered from mental health issues. She was dealing with ‘the twisties’, a mental problem where there’s a disconnection between the body and mind while the gymnast is in the air, and it can lead to serious injuries.
I'm wore out and I'm tired. But here it is whenever I think about being wore out and being tired, you know, somebody get this on their phone and it will probably end on Facebook, but I ain't no little, weak gymnast that quits when going gets tough.Mark Robinson said
Navratilova, who speaks her mind about the ideas she supports, be it her stance against trans athlete’s inclusion in women’s sports or her disapproval of Donald Trump‘s policies or his antics, wasted no time to censure Robinson over his ‘insensitive’ comments on Biles in a tweet she shared on Wednesday (July 31).
Only someone who never even tried to achieve anything sport wise can say bullsh*t like this loser…Martina Navratilova wrote on X

Martina Navratilova lashes out at IOC for the inclusion of biologically male athletes in women’s events
On Wednesday (July 31), Martina Navratilova, who also actively participates in political discussions, shared many tweets to show her support to the Democrats. In one of the tweets, the 67-year-old American criticized the International Olympic Committee for allowing two boxer and two soccer players who are “biologically male” to compete in the women’s matches.
There are several male athletes (boxers and soccer players) competing as women and @iocmedia is ok with it. They were not born female. The DNA says male. This is not anti trans at all- it’s only trying to keep women’s category female. Get it now?

She made herself clear that if a girl or a woman takes testosterone, then she must not compete against women. The 18-time Grand Slam singles champion also criticized the IOC for allowing boxers to compete in Olympics who failed gender tests at world championships. In another recent tweet, Navratilova agreed with JK Rowling‘s views about UK banning puberty blockers as she doesn’t support experiments on kids.
Navratilova retired in 2006 after clinching a record 167 singles titles in the Open Era. Along with the 18 singles major trophies, Navratilova lifted 31 doubles and 10 mixed doubles titles in Grand Slam events.
