Martina Navratilova this time criticized ESPN for its coverage of Joe Biden‘s decision to scrap the Title IX amendment. Navratilova was happy when the Biden administration decided to withdraw the proposed rule as it aimed to prevent bans on trans athletes’ inclusion in girls’ sports.

Biden had proposed the amendment last April. The amendment would have stopped the states from banning trans athletes in schools, that receive federal funding, from participating in girls’ sports.

This led to criticism as many, including Navratilova, were against the idea. The issue of inclusion of trans people in women’s sports is a controversial subject but the tennis great has never minced her words and openly criticized the belief as she thinks girls or women would be at a disadvantage if trans athletes compete in their category due to physical differences.

ESPN’s article on the issue was titled, ‘Biden drops plans to protect transgender athletes’. Navratilova fumed at ESPN upon coming across the title on X. She questioned ESPN, saying the scrapping of Title XI would only help women athletes and not protect the trans athletes.

Really ESPN??? How about protecting women athletes? We don’t count? Shame on you.

Martina Navratilova slams gender practitioner for prescribing oestrogen to a teen

Martina Navratilova is a staunch critic of trans athletes’ inclusion in women’s sports. But along with that, she stands resolute on the idea that children shouldn’t be sent to gender-affirming care to transition to their gender identity. She wants the children to grow up first before deciding what’s right for them.

On December 22, Navratilova came across a tweet that stated how GP (gender practitioner), Dr Samuel Hall prescribed cross-s*x hormones to a teenage boy by defying Cass Review guidance. The 18-time singles champion slammed the GP and reiterated that kids don’t need cross-gender hormone therapy.

This is criminal. These kids’ brains are not fully formed and they have been taught to listen to adults. Who are now giving them really bad advice…

The 68-year-old is quite active on social media and never shied away from voicing her opinions on controversial subjects. Though she has not hidden from anyone that she supports the Democrats and loathes the Republicans, when it comes to the issues of women, she does not hold herself from censuring the Democrats.

Navratilova retired in 2006 after clinching the most number of titles in the Open Era (167). Apart from 18 singles majors, she has also lifted 31 doubles and 10 mixed doubles Grand Slam titles.
