Investigators believe the gunman targeted the school because of its religious ties. A note found at the scene revealed his motive. He claimed the attack was a response to America’s involvement in conflicts affecting Palestinians and Yemen. Authorities also confirmed that the suspect had a history of mental health struggles and past criminal charges, including theft, fraud, and forgery.
The shooting happened around 1:00 PM on Wednesday. The attacker, Glenn Litton, 56, entered the school by pretending to enroll a student. He met with an administrator and toured the campus. However, he later walked toward a restroom and suddenly opened fire, hitting two kindergarten-aged children outside a classroom.
After the attack, Litton turned the gun on himself. First responders found him dead with the firearm nearby. The school’s remaining 35 children were quickly moved to a church. Their families were later reunited with them, bringing relief after a horrifying event.
