American tennis legend Martina Navratilova has taken a sly dig at Kim Kardashian for her looks at the 2024 Met Gala. As Kardashian’s extremely lean waist became a topic of discussion, Navratilova took a jibe asking the model how many ribs she got removed to achieve that physique.

Notably, Kim Kardashian, being among the top American celebrities attended the Met Gala and drew attention for her physique. Many were baffled to see the thinness of her waist and were left with nothing but questions. Social media was abuzz with posts talking about Kardashian’s lean waist.

Navratilova also joined the bandwagon as she subtly put a question on X (formerly Twitter) for the renowned celebrity. The 67-year-old asked Kardashian if she got her ribs removed for this and if yes, they how many of them.

Why Martina Navratilova made such a statement?

The comment on Kim Kardashian‘s Met Gala look from Martina Navratilova was not just a shallow remark. The question comes with a merit because things like this have happened in the past. Known as the Ant Waist Surgery, an essential feature in modern body contouring surgery owing to the attractiveness of hourglass body shapes, it has been carried out in the past to perfect a look.

The surgery is an adjunctive procedure for ideal shaping of the waistline by resection of the 11th and 12th ribs, referred to as floating ribs. It is carried out to decrease the circumference of the waist and also decrease the waist-to-hip ratio.

A WHR of 0.65 to 0.70 is consistently considered highly attractive in the modern era and hence many models go through this surgery. However, there is no evidence that Kardashian underwent such surgery. Reports claim that her dress was deliberately designed in such a way that it would make her waist look thinner.
