United States President-elect Donald Trump has been wielding his power since winning the general election on November 5. He recently nominated Republican Matt Gaetz for the position of Attorney General, which has raised a lot of eyebrows.
Tennis legend Martina Navratilova has launched a scathing attack against Gaetz. On Wednesday (November 13) Trump confirmed the nomination of Matt Gaetz to serve as the Attorney General on X, a few minutes after meeting President Joe Biden in the White House.
At the time, Gaetz was a member of the House of Representatives, but after the announcement, he handed in his resignation from his seat. However, his nomination comes with a lot of baggage.
The 42-year-old was accused in 2020 of being involved in sex trafficking and having an intimate relationship with minors. The US Department of Justice (DOJ) launched an investigation back then but ultimately didn’t press charges.
Gaetz is also under investigation by the House of Representatives’ House Ethics Committee but that has ended following his resignation. Navratilova, who has always been a critic of Trump’s policies, took to social media to reveal that Gaetz was not fit to be the attorney general of the Republic.

Nonetheless, pundits and critics have also revealed that Gaetz had no experience within the Department of Justice to be their leader. He has called himself a firebrand and has also been known to push far-right policies, including conspiracy theories in Congress.

Martina Navratilova recently agreed with a political commentator on X that American oligarchs were responsible for Donald Trump’s presidential election victory. The political commentator revealed that prominent wealthy figures like Elon Musk backed Trump to succeed and that the billionaire also appeared in some of his rallies.
He added that Trump’s desperation to get back to the White House was a tool the Oligarchs used to gain control of the government. The suggestion got the attention of former World No. 1 Navratilova, who agreed with it. She then reacted with just one word.

After the election, Navratilova was disappointed that Trump would serve as the US President for a second term. The 68-year-old had supported and endorsed Democrat Presidential candidate Kamala Harris and, after the results, claimed that Trump won because of racism and fascism.
