Mason Greenwood, the former Manchester United star, currently plies his trade in Ligue 1 for Olympique de Marseille. Ever since his ‘forced’ exit from United and subsequent move to France, the 23-year-old has been at the top of his game and has been banging in goals on the regular. In addition to his goal scoring pursuits, the No.10 has also helped the club reach third position this season.
Marseille were on a 9-game unbeaten streak until a 1-0 loss to Strasbourg made them drop points for just the second time this season. Greenwood has already scored 5 goals from the first six games of the season, and is only behind Paris Saint-Germain star Bradley Barcola in the list of League top scorers.
As the Englishman continues to impress audiences, a shocking report states that FC Barcelona are preparing to bring in the player next season. Hansi Flick has taken a liking to the player, although the club are expected to offer a sum in the region of €60 million if they are to acquire his services.
Several fans on social media expressed their surprise as many were disappointed for the club even considering the signing of an ‘abuser’.
Barca boss Hansi Flick can’t guarantee spot in XI for new signing Wojciech Szczesny
Barcelona fans were in wonderland when the club secured the signing of veteran goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny to fill in for an injured Marc-Andre ter Stegen who’s set to miss the remainder of the season with a serious knee injury. The German will undergo surgery and the club are apparently not willing to risk it with back-up keepers Inaki Pena and Ander Astralaga. However, Hansi Flick’s latest comments confused fans as he now argues that no player, including Szczesny is guaranteed a spot at the club.
It is understood that Flick has spoken with the former Polish international and that the latter has given the thumbs-up to compete for the goalkeeper spot with Pena.
Surprisingly, Pena’s second game as keeper since Ter Stegen’s injury saw the Blaugrana concede 4 goals for the first time this season. As things stand, Barcelona are top of the League. The club play their next game against Young Boys in the Champions League. Fans are excited to see Szczesny’s debut after the club recently completed his signing and medical.
