“Masterful-47” NBA Twitter goes berserk as LeBron James drops 47 points to lead Lakers to victory on 38th birthday

LeBron James
LeBron James and the Lakers edged past the Atlanta Hawks as they beat Hawks in their home arena. With this loss, the Hawks’ losing streak extended to 3 games while the Lakers won their first game after losing to the Miami Heat on the 29th of December. James still had the same appearance as the 19-year-old who joined the league in 2003 at the age of 38. The birthday boy insisted on winning the game as the Lakers traveled to Atlanta to take on the Hawks.
James dropped 47 points against the Hawks in State Farm Arena and once again fueled GOAT talks because of his performance. James’ birthday scoring spree was not only important for the Lakers, but it was also historic. The Lakers improved to 15-21 thanks to Los Angeles’ 15-point comeback, which was the greatest comeback victory of theirs this season. James recorded a season-high 47 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists, falling one assist short of his first triple-double of the season.
What could’ve been a one-sided matchup in the Hawk’s favor due to Anthony Davis’s absence as he continues to be sidelined due to a right foot injury turned out to be one of Lakers’ best comebacks this season and arguably the best James has played in a while.
Fans quickly hailed James as the best player in the world following the game, which also saw him record 10 rebounds and 9 assists. After such remarkable play at his age and at this stage of his career, many others confirmed his title as the GOAT of the NBA.

LeBron James joins Michael Jordan in this historical record

Although most players would be nearing the end of their careers by the time, they are 38 years old, James has shown no signs of his play slowing down any time soon. He was averaging 27.8 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 6.6 assists while shooting 49.8 percent from the floor prior to the Hawks game. Though at 29.7%, his three-point shooting has slightly declined. Since his first year, he has not taken a three-point shot that low.
After his performance against the Hawks, he became just the second 38-year-old since Michael Jordan who put up such numbers while playing for the Washington Wizards to record at least 45 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists in a single game.
The Lakers have had a difficult season, though. The Lakers had dropped five of their previous six games coming into the Hawks game. Even though the victory raised them to 15-21, they still have some ground to make up if they hope to compete in the play-offs.
