In the past few weeks, there has been massive speculation regarding the return of Tiger Woods at the 2026 Masters Tournament. The official app of the event has now sparked more buzz regarding this by listing him as a participant in the upcoming tournament in April.
The 15-time major champion has been out of competitive action since July 2024. After playing and missing the cut in the Open Championship at Royal Troon, he has not played any sort of competitive golf.
Woods was scheduled to make his 2025 season debut at the Genesis Invitational. However, after the demise of his mother, Kultida Woods, he would withdraw from the event.
At this time last year, Woods would suffer a major blow as he ruptured his Achilles tendon while preparing for the Masters Tournament. As a result of this injury, he missed all the 4 majors. In October, he would undergo another back surgery.
Since then, he has been working on getting ready for competitive action. At the 2026 Genesis Invitational, the former World No. 1, did not completely rule out on making an appearance at the Masters Tournament.

On Thursday, the Masters App was updated. In this, the app listed him as a participant and stated he would make his 27th start at Augusta National Golf Club in April. He is not listed in the “past champions not participating” section.
Tiger Woods is making his 27th start in the Masters in 2026.
Masters App said regarding Tiger Woods
Woods has a special connection with the Masters Tournament. In 1997, he ran away with the title with a dominating performance. His 12-shot victory is the biggest winning margin in Masters Tournament history.
In 2019, he captured his 5th green jacket by coming back and winning the Masters again. This marked his first major triumph after trailing after 54 holes. It was also the last time he won a major tournament.
Whether he will actually play in the event or not is something only time will tell. If he does make an appearance, he would be hoping to maintain his cut streak and make it 25 consecutive cuts in this major event.
Tiger Woods recently provided another update regarding his health amid Masters Tournament speculations
Tiger Woods has been out for quite a while now. As speculation regarding his return continues to rise, he provided an update regarding his health recently.

Last October, Woods underwent his 7th back surgery. This time he went under the knife to replace his disc in the back.
While speaking with the reporters at the TGL this week, the 50-year-old expressed that his body is having mixed days and that he does not heal as quickly as he used to do earlier.
I said I’ve been working on it. Sometimes I have good days, sometimes I have bad days. Disk replacement is not a lot of fun. … I’ve had a lot of procedures prior to that, so the body doesn’t quite heal like it was when I was 24. Doesn’t quite bounce back.
Tiger Woods told the reporters
During his absence from the greens, Woods has worked behind the scenes of the PGA Tour. The golfer is currently the chairman of the PGA Tour Future Competition Committee and has been working with CEO Brian Rolapp to improve the status of the tour.
Apart from that, the American international has been supporting his TGL team, Jupiter Links GC, from the sidelines. This week, they defeated Rory McIlroy‘s Boston Common Golf to advance to the TGL finals against the Los Angeles Golf Club next week.
