The excitement levels for the 2024 Masters tournament seems to have come down a bit. The reason for this is due to the weather forecast for Thursday morning.
As per reports from Weather.com, a severe thunderstorm is likely to hit Augusta, GA in the morning. The thunderstorm is predicted to start at around 5 a.m. in the morning. Heavy rains along with strong and gusty winds are expected to last till 11 a.m. Things will start to ease out in the afternoon with a partly cloudy weather for the remainder of the day.
Last year, the Masters was delayed due on Friday and Saturday due to severe weather conditions. The halt in play during the third round on Saturday saw several golfers play at least 27 holes on Sunday to complete the tournament.
Just like the previous year, honorary starters Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson are scheduled to begin the proceedings at 7:40 a.m. with the first tee at 8 a.m. However, with the current weather forecast, there could be a change in this timings.
The organizers of the tournament have released an update regarding the possible day. In a statement on X, they have announced that all gate openings for the fans have been delayed.

Social media reacts to huge Masters 2024 update
The mood of golf fans has dampened following the news of a possible weather delay to start the first major event of the year. Following the official update from the Masters organizers, they have been left fuming.
They would express their genuine displeasure regarding this. Some threw in light-hearted jokes and suggested that PGA Tour should “scrap” of Thursday and play 54 holes from Friday in a shotgun start with no cuts, the exact way LIV Golf does. One fan would write that the “s***show” had already begun.
