Matthew Stafford lined up for a sensational trade deal involving Giants third draft pick

The wheel of fortune is turning for Matthew Stafford and may lead him elsewhere besides Los Angeles. After four up-and-down years with the Rams, the veteran quarterback is lined up for a sensational move to the New York Giants.
Colin Cowherd during Thursday’s segment of The Herd, revealed DMing a few contacts inside the Rams facility to learn about the brass’s vision about Stafford’s future in LA. Fans who have a soft spot for the quarterback than won them a Super Bowl just four seasons ago, will not like what Cowherd had to say.
The Rams are open to trading Stafford to the Giants but might ask Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll for the 3rd overall pick in return.
What the Rams want, I am told, is they want the Giants’ first-round pick at No. 3. They probably want a first, a second, a first, a third, but you’ve got to pay Stafford if you’re the Giants. You have to give him a new deal.
Colin Cowherd said
Cowherd painted a scenario involving the Giants’ third pick. After sending Stafford to New York, they get the pick and then trade it away to get more first-round picks on top of their 26th pick.
They want to take that pick, move down, and get more picks. Why? So they have extra picks next year when they have to move up to get a quarterback.

Schone and Daboll are already on borrowed time and the Giants fans want to see some explosive young franchise quarterback in New York. They have zoned in on Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders ever since December. Losing the chance to draft Sanders for an aging Stafford, who would command a lot of money, may not be the move the fans want to see.
Matthew Stafford’s wife hinted about his potential trade away from Rams
Stafford isn’t someone to come out and say something about his future in the media, so his wife Kelly Stafford does that for him. While discussing Cooper Kupp’s trade, Kelly recently provided insight into her husband’s potential future in LA.
I love the life that we have built here. With that being said, I love an adventure. I am all for it. Right now, if the Rams decided that they wanted to trade [Stafford], or Matthew decided he didn’t want to play for the Rams, I’m good.

Stafford during the 2024 season threw 310 completions for 3,762 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions in the regular season as the Rams finished 10-6. In the two playoff games, he threw 45 completions for 533 yards and four touchdowns. The Rams lost 22-28 to the eventual Super Bowl winners, the Philadelphia Eagles, in the Divisional round.
