IPL 2020: ‘Not only quick, but also smart’ – Deep Dasgupta heaps praise on Shivam Mavi and Kamlesh Nagarkoti
Shivam Mavi celebrates a wicket
Following a great bowling performance by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) pacers Shivam Mavi and Kamlesh Nagarkoti, former Indian cricketer Deep Dasgupta has praised the duo as ‘smart’ bowlers.
KKR played Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their third match of Indian Premier League 2020. Their batters scored 174-6, thanks to brisk batting by Shubman Gill and Eoin Morgan. In the second innings, the KKR pacers came out all guns blazing. The pace duo of Mavi and Nagarkoti, ably supported by Pat Cummins ripped through the RR batting. Their performance led to KKR winning the match by 37 runs.
Good to see the duo bouncing back from injury – Dasgupta
Former Indian cricketer and current analyst Deep Dasgupta was all praise for the young duo, Shivam Mavi and Kamlesh Nagarkoti. In a conversation with ESPNcricinfo, he said, “So good to see the youngsters coming back after almost a couple of years of injuries. They are still looking to bowl quick. And also are bowling smart. KKR and their captain Dinesh Karthik have shown enough faith in them to use them to bowl the death overs“.
Fellow analyst and former cricketer Ajit Agarkar also echoed Dasgupta’s views. He pointed out Mavi’s performance in the match against Mumbai Indians that went unnoticed because KKR lost. He said, “Both Nagarkoti and Mavi have great pace. Their performances must give them confidence moving on in the tournament”. Agarkar also pointed out the fact that successful teams in the IPL have always had good Indian pacers in their bowling attack.
Kolkata Knight Riders face Delhi Capitals next on October 3 at Sharjah.
