Max Muncy will remain with the Los Angeles Dodgers for another season. On Thursday, the World Series champions picked up his club option for the 2026 season and extended his stay. The third baseman would later express his gratitude towards the club.
The Dodgers began their offseason operations on Thursday. The team picked up the $10 million club option of Muncy and $3.5 million offer of relief pitcher Alex Vesia for the 2026 season. They later announced that outfielder Ryan Ward and left-hander Robinson Ortiz had been added to the 40-man roster.
The team also had some departures. Starting pitcher Tony Gonsolin was designated for assignment while Justin Dean and Michael Grove were outrighted. Dean, who had a massive moment in Game 6 of the World Series in the outfield regarding the lobbed ball, was then claimed off waivers by the San Francisco Giants.
Muncy’s club option is one of the biggest moves of the Dodgers. The 35-year-old was one of the heroes for the Dodgers in Game 7 of the World Series this year.
The veteran was 1-for-2 in the game when he entered the 8th inning to face Trey Yesavage. He showcased his experience over the rookie pitcher and smashed a solo home run to make it a 4-3 game. Muncy’s home run proved to be an important one as it sparked the Dodgers’ comeback.

Miguel Rojas stunned the home crowd in Toronto with a solo home run in the 9th inning with one out against Jeff Hoffman. In the 11th inning, the Dodgers took the lead through a solo home run from Will Smith. The catcher’s blast proved to be the difference as a double play in the next frame ended the game and saw the Dodgers emerge as 5-4 winners.
On Thursday, the Dodgers wasted no time and picked up the club option for Muncy. The left-handed hitter, who joined the LA-based side in 2018, will remain with them for another year.

He would later speak to some reporters during an event where he was signing autographs for the fans. During this, the 2-time MLB All-Star expressed gratitude towards his team.
They (Dodgers) mean everything to me. I wouldn’t still be in baseball if it wasn’t for the Dodgers. To get another year with them, hopefully I can get more in there, really means a lot to me.

Muncy has been effective for the Dodgers when he is healthy. While he has only played 173 games in the last two seasons, his presence has made a huge difference. As per reports from MLB.com, the Dodgers have gone 60-40 with him on the team. In his absence, the 9-time World Series winners are 33-29 without him.
Max Muncy makes hilarious admission regarding Freddie Freeman’s viral dance move
A few days after repeating as World Series champions, the Los Angeles Dodgers’ star Freddie Freeman went viral over his incredible dance moves. After the Dodgers picked up his club option, Max Muncy made a hilarious admission over his teammate’s moves.

The Dodgers held a victory parade for their fans at Dodger Stadium on Monday. After celebrating with them, the players had a private post-parade celebration.
In this, Freeman would let loose and shock the dance floor with “The Worm” move. The 35-year-old would pull off the move with ease, leaving fans on social media stunned.

Muncy was asked about this by the reporters on Thursday. The American international would laugh it off. However, he did claim that he might do this move himself if the Dodgers are able to three-peat the World Series next year.
We obviously knew Freddie (Freeman) could move a little bit. That’s why our double celebration is kind of modelled after him. We knew that there were some moves in there, but he’s a big-a** man doing the worm, I’ll say that… You know what, if we three-peat, I’ll find a way to learn it as quick as I can.

A three-peat of the World Series is not an easy task. Only 4 times in MLB history has a team won the World Series in 3 or more seasons successively.
The New York Yankees have done this feat 3 times. The Bronx Bombers first 4-peated the title from 1936 to 1939. A decade later, they 5-peated the title from 1949 to 1953. Their third three-peat took place from 1998 to 2000. This was also the last time before this year that a team had gone back-to-back as champions.
The Athletics are the other team that has achieved this astonishing feat. They won three straight titles from 1972 to 1974, beating the Cincinnati Reds (1972), the New York Mets (1973) and the Dodgers in 1974. The Dodgers are now aiming to join this exclusive club next year.
