Find Out: What Max Verstappen had to say after finishing P3 in qualifying at Portugal GP

Max Verstappen finished third in the qualifying session at the Portugal GP on Saturday, as he starts in the second row alongside his Red bull teammate, Sergio Perez. The Dutch driver came into the Portugal, on the back of an impressive race at Imola, where he finished P1. Max Verstappen is just one point behind the championship leader, Lewis Hamilton.

Max Verstappen saw his lap time deleted in Q3, after he exceeded track limits. However, the Dutch driver recovered quickly, and on his second try, managed to finish P3 in qualifying. Valtteri Bottas took the pole position, whereas, his Mercedes teammate, Lewis Hamilton took the second spot.

Qualifying was very difficult to drive: Max Verstappen

Most drivers found it difficult to drive in the qualifying session at Portugal, as the likes of Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen struggled to maintain their pace. Verstappen believes that P3 is not an ideal qualifying position, but Red Bull have to fight it out against the Mercedes duo.

“Qualifying was very difficult to drive. I was struggling with grip. It’s not ideal. We’ll try to fight [Mercedes] in the race,” said the Dutch driver.

On the other hand, Lewis Hamilton congratulated Valtteri Bottas for his incredible lap, and accepted that he was not up to his mark.

Great job by Valtteri. Not the perfect lap [by me] but I gave it everything,” said Hamilton.
