“Max will definitely be there,” Fittipaldi backs Verstappen despite Ferrari having a better package

The F1 world champion of 1972, Emerson Fittipaldi, in a recent interview, backed Max Verstappen and Red Bull to be Ferrari’s core challenges this season. The driver expects both of them to make a comeback after having a terrible start to the season.

Fittipaldi, as quoted by VegasInsider, said“They are the team that can and will challenge Ferrari. They are the team to challenge Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz. No doubt about that.”

So far, at the front of the grid, we’ve seen Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc fight it out in every race, but twice has Max Verstappen failed to finish the race, giving the Monegasque plenty of points advantage. The tussle between the two is expected to be continued further as only the cars of Red Bull, and Ferrari seem to be at the top and at par with each other, but with the latter having an edge over the former.

Speaking of Max Verstappen’s possible comeback, Fittipaldi said, “Max will definitely be there. For sure. He will be a challenge. Always. You can’t just switch it off.“

Emerson Fittipaldi’s gives his view on Ferrari

The oldest team in F1, Ferrari, entered 2022 with tremendous improvement. The team has been at the front of the grid continuously, dominating the entire grid with their all-around performances.

Complimenting the Maranello-based outfit, Fittipaldi said, “To me, Ferrari has the best package of the year. They look reliable, they look fast in different conditions, in different tracks. They got around the new rules better than anybody else, in my opinion.”

Confirming his favorite as Ferrari for this year, Fittipaldi added, “They focused on this year’s car and it’s showing in the results now. Last year was a frustrating year for Ferrari. This year is the opposite. They are the team to win the championship. That’s my opinion, for sure.”

Max Verstappen and Red Bull’s woes have seemed to be fixed, according to their chief advisor, but it remains to be seen how far they’ve come in two weeks. On the other hand, Ferrari is constantly looking to unlock more of its engine for power and cut its deficit to Red Bull’s straight pace.
