To felicitate MS Dhoni’s World Cup-winning six, Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) wants to name a seat at Wankhade Stadium to Mahi’s name.

The determined seat would possibly be the spot where the legendary six landed, the Indian Express reported.

Ajinkya Naik writes letter to MCA

According to a report, Mumbai Cricket Association Apex Council member, Ajinkya Naik on Monday wrote a letter to the MCA.

“The MCA can devote a permanent seat on his name at the stand where his famous World Cup-winning six had landed,” wrote Naik.

Several Indian cricketers comprising of Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar among others have been honoured at the stadium. Each has stands named after them.

This is the first time in Indian cricket history that there has been an offer to name a specific seat in a stadium.

However, this idea is not new in other countries. The Grand Southern Stand of Melbourne Cricket Ground paid homage Victoria’s Simon O’Donnell’s. Donnell shot a 122m huge six into the stand.

Also, Etihad Stadium in Melbourne coloured a seat red to honour the 96-metre six hit by Brad Hodge in his last match.
