Jiri Lehecka vs. Jannik Sinner: Match Preview
Jiri Lehecka didn’t kick off the year as he expected as he suffered an early exit at the Brisbane International and a shocking first-round exit at the Australian Open. Things got better for the Czech Republic star as he reached the quarter-finals of the Qatar Open and the Dubai Tennis Championships. At Indian Wells, he slumped to Sebastian Korda in his opening match.
However, things took an excellent turn for Lehecka in Miami, beating Moise Kouame in straight sets before crushing Ethan Quinn. He dropped his first set in the fourth round against home favorite Taylor Fritz, winning 6-4, 6(4)-7, 6-2. He stepped up to the occasion in the quarter-finals, beating Martin Landaluce 7-6(1), 7-5 before taking out Arthur Fils 6-2, 6-2 in just an hour and 15 minutes.

On the other hand, Jannik Sinner failed to defend his Australian Open title in January after losing to Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals. He then suffered a shocking loss to Jakub Mensik at the Doha Open in three sets in the quarter-finals. He finally got his rebound in Indian Wells, where he won the title after beating former World No.1 Daniil Medvedev in the final.
In Miami, he defeated Damir Dzumhur 6-3, 6-3 and Corentin Moutet 6-1, 6-4 in the second and third rounds. He continued with the momentum, beating Alex Michelsen 7-5, 7-6(6) and American star Frances Tiafoe 6-2, 6-2. He sealed his place in the final of the Masters 1000 tournament after beating Alexander Zverev 6-3, 7-6(4) after an hour and fifty-three minutes on the court.
Jiri Lehecka vs. Jannik Sinner: Match Prediction
Jiri Lehecka’s run at the Miami Open reminds fans of Jakub Mensik’s run at the event last year. Mensik reached the final and was given little hope of winning it as he faced Novak Djokovic, but he gave his best performance to win the title. Lehecka might not be the best player to compete against Jannik Sinner in the Miami Open final, but he can cause an upset.

Lehecka had never won a set against Sinner on tour. All their meetings (3) have ended in Sinner’s favor and in straight sets. Sinner has not dropped a set at the Miami Open, and he’s currently on an 11-match winning streak on tour and has been the best player since the start of the Sunshine Double.
Sinner is known to play in a certain pattern on the court, which gives his opponent a hind-sight about what to expect, but the World No.2 also plays the tactics with so much aggression and persistence. Lehecka will need something extraordinary to get a win over Sinner, while the Italian star looks the favorite to claim his second Masters 1000 title of the season.
Match prediction: Jannik Sinner to win in three sets.
