Jannik Sinner joins elite club of players as he moves into the Finals of the Miami Open 2021 against Hurkacz

Jannik Sinner has already had a few ups and downs in his relatively young tennis career. The Italian teenager won his second ATP Title, the Great Ocean Road Open, in Australia just before the Australian Open. He was even invited by Rafael Nadal for a preparatory camp before the Australian Open.
So after a great start to the year, Sinner crashed out of the Australian open in the very first round. This was a major setback for Sinner who took some time to recover. He reached the Quarter-finals of the Open 13 and Dubai Open. At the Miami Open, he has done extremely well and secured a place in the finals of the competition, where he will face Hubert Hurkacz.

Sinner is the only teenager apart from Andre Agassi, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic to reach the finals of the ATP Miami Open. The nineteen year old is in coveted company as the rest of them went on to become the no.1 ranked player in the World. Speaking on the matter Sinner said that if he wants to have a big name like the rest of them, he has to keep performing. He stressed that it’s not a matter of a week, but a long process.
“Joining [those names] feels great obviously but, as I always say, I’m 19,” said Sinner. “The road to have this big name is long. It’s not done in one week of tournament. [It] is a long process to [get] there.“

Sinner overcame Agut and Hurkacz beat Rublev to book their place in the Finals of the Miami Open 2021. Hurkacz had a straight sets win 6-3 6-4 while Sinner won in three sets, 5-7 6-4 6-4.
Incidentally, Sinner had also gotten the better of Agut a couple of weeks back in the Dubai open. Sinner says that he just tries to play his natural game and is happy that he could beat a solid player like Agut. He didn’t forget to thank the fans as well.
Jannik sinner said, “It feels unbelievable. It’s always tough to play against Roberto. Two weeks ago we played in Dubai, we had a tough one there. Now, a tough one here. I’m very happy about reaching the final here in Miami.”
He continued, “I tried to play my game. I just tried to make my game, tried to move him a little bit. He’s a very solid player, and obviously special thanks to the fans.”
