“Islam is better in every aspect except for,” Michael Chandler believes chances of Dustin Poirier are slim against Islam Makhachev

Michael Chandler believes Islam Makhachev is better than Dustin Poirier in almost every aspect of the sport. However, there is one element that could give Poirier an edge over the Dagestani champion. Chandler recently said on The MMA Hour that the only thing that Poirier is better at than Makhachev is striking.

Michael Chandler recently sat down with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour. Helwani asked him for his thoughts on Islam Makhachev vs. Dustin Poirier for the lightweight title. To this, Michale Chandler replied: 

I think Islam is better than him in every single aspect of the sport except for the sheer boxing. So it'll be fun, it'll be entertaining. I will not be there but I'll be watching.

Chandler said Dustin hits very hard. According to Michael Chandler, Dustin Poirier is the most skilled guy he has ever fought in his entire career. Chandler labeled him as a certified competitor who is willing to lose rounds to win the fight. He also complemented Poirier’s cardio and his mental focus inside the octagon.

Meanwhile, he is also wary of Makhachev’s incredible wrestling. With just a few weeks left for UFC 302, Chandler wonders how Poirier would prepare for some of the takedowns he knows Makhachev would throw at him. However, Chandler believes everybody has a chance so it will be interesting to see how this lightweight title bout fares out in the octagon.

Conor McGregor’s training partner predicts McGregor will knock Michael Chandler out at UFC 303

UFC 303 will see Conor McGregor make a comeback to the UFC octagon after almost three years of inactivity. Michael Chandler has already made his bold predictions of defeating the former double champion. However, McGregor’s training partner believes he will knock Chandler out.

Brendan Loughnane reportedly spent weeks training with ‘The Notorious’ last year in Dubai. According to him, McGregor is just too good for Chandler to handle. 

I think he is going to knock the f*ck out of Michael Chandler, just overwhelms and batters him. I think he is too sharp and well-rounded.

He predicted Michael Chandler would come in strong for a one-on-one brawl with Conor McGregor. However, McGregor would stay on the outside and catch Chandler coming in, thus knocking him out. Let’s see how this plays out at UFC 303 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
