Michael Chandler recently took offense to what happened at the weigh-ins at UFC 302. The fight is just a few hours from now and both Islam Makhachev and Dustin Poirier were on the scales with sunglasses on. Chandler pointed this out as he criticized the two fighters on X.

Michael Chandler recently sent out a tweet on X. There he wrote about how odd it looked for both Makhachev and Poirier with their sunglasses on at the Prudential Centre. 

These guys and their sunglasses on the scale…the hell are we doing here? You’re inside and in your underwear, dude.

Islam Makhachev and Dustin Poirier are headlining the main event at UFC 302. This could be ‘The Diamond’s final attempt at securing the lightweight title. Meanwhile, the Dagestani champion will enter his third title defense in what is planned to be the first of at least two fights before 2024 ends. He had consecutively defended his title against Alexander Volkanovski twice last year.

In the meantime, Michael Chandler will follow the two fighters as he headlines UFC 303 later this month with UFC star, Conor McGregor. ‘Iron’ has waited way too long for this fight to finally happen. His last fight was against ‘The Diamond’ at UFC 281 back in 2022. If he wins, Chandler would head straight for title fights with under 10 fights in the UFC.

Michael Chandler had an interesting perspective on the upcoming showdown between Islam Makhachev and Dustin Poirier at UFC 302. ‘Iron’ said he was glad his UFC 281 opponent got the title shot. However, he does not see ‘The Diamond’ winning against the reigning champion.

Chandler recently did an interview with MMA Fighting. There he predicted that Islam Makhachev would come out on top and finish Dustin Poirier. 

Do I give (Poirier) a chance? Absolutely. I think Islam’s going to have his number. I think Islam is just better in every area. I think Islam finishes him, honestly.

Chandler said ‘The Diamond’ fights very punch-heavy. He predicts Poirier would be in trouble when Islam Makhachev shoots for the takedown and scrambles with him on the ground. He is speaking from experience after their 2022 showdown where ‘The Diamond’ actually submitted Chandler in the third round of their fight.
