Michael Chandler thinks he will face Tony Ferguson in his first UFC fight

“Iron” Mike Chandler, the Bellator veteran, recently signed with UFC and has already started plotting as to who his first opponent will be. The American who has fought almost his entire career in Bellator and has had tremendous success, will be looking to replicate the same in the UFC as well. But the question arises; who his opponent will be?

There is also a possibility that Chandler might end up in the UFC 254 main event! Yes, you read that right! In the rarest of circumstances Chandler might face Khabib Nurmagomedov or Justin Gaethje if either of them decides to pull out. It might be amusing, but it can’t be ruled out as we have a deadly pandemic on the prowl.

Chandler sets his sights on Tony

In an interview with MMAFighting, Chandler said that he is not ruling out other possible opponents as well. He is ready for whatever it takes to face any of the top 5. Since, Conor vs Dustin Poirier is definitely on; he feels his first opponent will be ‘El Cucuy‘ Tony Ferguson.

“There’s been momentum brewing on Poirier’s side, Since he lost to Conor, he’s looked nothing but spectacular. Conor McGregor is the biggest draw in the history of combat sports. If that’s who Conor wants to fight, that’s who he’s going to fight.

If I’m the guy he wants to fight, then he’s going to fight me. If those two guys are matched up, that takes out two guys in the top five,” Chandler went on. “Obviously with Khabib and Gaethje lined up, Conor and Poirier, that really only leaves Tony Ferguson. So I’d love the opportunity to fight Tony Ferguson.”

Michael Chandler is a fearless man, we will definitely see him in the octagon very soon. Hope he brings all the experience he has raked up in the Bellator. Bring it on!
