The news and rumors surrounding Giannis Antetokounmpo‘s future with the Milwaukee Bucks never seem to end. His future has been up in the air and has caused a lot of inconvenience to the Bucks throughout the 2025-26 campaign.
During the offseason last year, he was left disappointed with the Bucks trading away Damian Lillard and not building a strong team around him. While he wanted out, no move materialized in the end, and Antetokounmpo ended up staying.
Reports about him being unhappy amplified when the Bucks struggled in the regular season. They failed to qualify for the playoffs as they finished in 11th place in the Eastern Conference standings with a 32-50 record.
ESPN analyst Michael Wilbon had some bold opinions on the Greek superstar.
I don’t believe in Giannis anymore. Giannis is a rumor. Giannis hasn’t done jack in the months that matter, which would be May and June since 2021. 5 years is forever in professional sports. Giannis can look obsolete very quickly if he can’t get his b**t out there and contribute heavily, massively, in May and June.

Michael Wilbon is known for his interesting takes but this is a bold one. There is no doubt that Giannis Antetokounmpo is still one of the best players in the league today. He is a force on both ends of the court and is a blend of athleticism, size, and power.
Antetokounmpo struggled with injuries in the regular season as he was restricted to just 36 appearances. However, he still posted impressive numbers, as he averaged 27.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 5.4 assists.
It has been five years since Antetokounmpo lifted the championship and won the Finals MVP. He has not achieved much postseason success since, but he continues to be one of the most dominant players on the court. Hence, there is a strong notion that he will not be short of suitors during the offseason this year.
Giannis Antetokounmpo should move to Boston according to Kendrick Perkins
The 31-year-old is in the prime of his career. For a player who relies a lot on athleticism and is not a good shooter, it remains to be seen how many more years can Giannis Antetokounmpo play at an elite level. The Greek is heavily linked to the Miami Heat, however, Kendrick Perkins has another suggestion for him.

Perkins believes that Antetokounmpo should move to the Boston Celtics, as the move would make more sense for the superstar.
Giannis better take his a** to Boston. That makes the most sense for everybody. Him going to Miami does absolutely nothing. It does not move the needle. Him and Bam Adebayo that is not singing championship to me.

“Giannis better take his ass to Boston. That makes the most sense for everybody. Him going to Miami does absolutely nothing. It does not move the needle. Him and Bam Adebayo that is not singing championship to me.”

The relationship between Antetokounmpo and the Bucks has been poor towards the end of the regular season, hence, it is highly unlikely that he will remain with the club. A move for Antetokounmpo to a team like the Celtics would be a huge needle mover in the Eastern Conference.
