Looks like Ryan Clark’s words really got to Dak Prescott, as he improved the Dallas Cowboys to a 3-2 standing after clinching a victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 5. Since the quarterback has been scrutinized since last season’s playoff elimination, head coach Mike McCarthy didn’t hold back from crediting him for the victory.
Unlike last year, the Cowboys have won all three of their road games this season. With this victory, the three-time Pro Bowler not only improved to a 26-11 record in prime-time games, but also enlisted himself among the four quarterbacks with a .700 or above winning percentage in prime-time games.
Discussing the game in the post-game press conference, the Cowboys head coach showered high praise on his quarterback, whose final play brought the team a much-needed victory–ignoring the two interceptions he threw in the game.
Composure is a huge strength of his. He’s the same man every day. The way he works, the way he competes, he doesn’t blink. He doesn’t dwell on mistakes. He never blinked one time during that game. There was never a doubt that we were going to go down and score.

Until the fourth quarter, victory seemed out of reach for the Cowboys. However, midway through the quarter, Prescott threw a four-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Jalen Tolbert, securing a 20-17 win. This marked Prescott’s 23rd game-winning drive, the fifth-highest among quarterbacks since 2016.
Cowboys surprise head coach Mike McCarthy with game ball
The game was delayed for 25 minutes due to the bad weather, but Prescott was determined to make the match memorable, and he sure did. The Cowboys players also made their head coach McCarthy’s night special by surprising him with the game ball.

According to Clarence Hill Jr., the Cowboys players dedicated their victory against the Steelers to their head coach as he grew up in Pittsburgh. Not only it was McCarthy’s first victory in his hometown, but also the first game ball he ever received by a team he coached.
That’s why the night was extra special for Dallas. With each passing season, the Cowboys’ situation is improving and the investments in their players appear to be paying off.
With this win, they are ranked second within the division and are up against the Buffalo Bills in Week 6, who are standing with a 3-1 record.
