Mike Perry remains one of the most violent active fighters in MMA today. His dominance in BKFC over the past few years reinforced that reputation. Those performances earned Perry the title of “King of Violence” for his exciting fighting style. That intensity also appeared against Nate Diaz under the MVP MMA banner, and after the event, Perry has now addressed a potential superfight with former UFC champion Conor McGregor.

Against Diaz at MVP MMA 1, Perry delivered another brutal, relentless performance. The former UFC welterweight constantly pressured the Stockton native with body shots, elbows, and heavy combinations throughout the contest. As a result, Diaz suffered severe facial cuts as Perry overwhelmed him across two violent rounds. The fight ended after Diaz’s corner stopped the bout, giving ‘Platinum’ a TKO victory on the inaugural MVP MMA card.

On the other hand, McGregor remains one of the biggest stars in UFC history despite his lengthy absence. He is currently scheduled to face Max Holloway at UFC 329 during International Fight Week on July 11. The fight marks the Irishman’s return following his 2021 leg injury loss against Dustin Poirier. Amid renewed attention surrounding McGregor’s comeback, Perry recently addressed factors behind a potential future showdown on The Ariel Helwani Show.

I like the sound of that, but I’m not gonna sit around and wait for it. I’ll just keep fighting when I get opportunities that make sense. We’re making waves as a big name in the fight game. Conor is going to fight Max Holloway. Maybe I’ll get another fight in the meantime, win that next one, and then maybe Conor will be ready to make his return and have that final UFC fight or whatever. Maybe the UFC can make an offer or something, I don’t know… I’m on the path to going up, and for anybody who doesn’t want to believe in me, I look in crazy shape and I hit hard and dangerous shots.

Tensions between McGregor and Perry intensified after the Irishman became part-owner of BKFC. McGregor later announced Perry’s firing following his July 2024 boxing loss against influencer boxer Jake Paul. However, BKFC CEO David Feldman clarified that Perry remained a valuable asset for the promotion. As a result, many viewed McGregor’s public comments as a publicity stunt rather than an official decision.

At the BKFC 82 press conference, McGregor again threatened to fire the former UFC veteran. The comments came before Perry defended his King of Violence title against Jeremy Stephens. However, Perry later knocked out Stephens in dominant fashion during the BKFC main event. After the victory, Perry and McGregor shared a humorous exchange referencing the Irishman’s famous UFC 205 speech.

If one looks at it carefully, Perry could be an ideal opponent for Conor McGregor, given their aggressive styles and welterweight experience. Perry spent years competing at 170lbs across the UFC and BKFC promotions. And as ‘The Notorious One’ is set to return at welterweight for UFC 329 because of his larger frame in recent times, a future showdown between both stars could become a major combat sports attraction.

Mike Perry weighs in on his performance against Nate Diaz at MVP MMA 1

Nate Diaz remains one of the most unconventional and fearless fighters in modern MMA history. Known for his slick boxing, relentless pressure, and legendary toughness, Diaz built a reputation as one of the sport’s most durable competitors.

That resilience has been on full display during his unforgettable wars in the past with Donald Cerrone and Leon Edwards, where he absorbed tremendous punishment yet continued marching forward and pushing the pace deep into the later rounds.

Against Mike Perry at MVP MMA 1, the Stockton native absorbed heavy damage while continuing to exchange throughout the fight. Diaz suffered a severe cut near his eye and stumbled during several intense exchanges against Perry’s pressure. Despite the punishment, he repeatedly moved forward and threw combinations. And after the bout, ‘Platinum’ reflected on why Diaz’s performance was not surprising.

They’d rather talk about his stumble or the fact that he’s just so tough that he could stand there bleeding. In my opinion, he did what he usually does — I just had the ability to dominate in that space. I don’t necessarily always get the credit, and I don’t have a million followers, but that’s fine because I’m going to keep working hard.

Despite the defeat, the Stockton fighter reportedly has no plans to step away from combat sports competition. For the unversed, Diaz recently received a 180-day medical suspension following injuries suffered during the brutal fight against the ‘King Of Violence’. Reports also revealed Diaz turned down a potential trilogy fight with McGregor before signing with MVP for the Perry matchup.
