New York Jets wide receiver Mike Williams expressed that he isn’t upset about teammate Aaron Rodgers’ public criticism. The statement came amid growing interest in a Williams trade deal, strongly forecasted to take place in the next weeks.
The four-time NFL MVP Rodgers aimed a strongly worded criticism at Williams after a loss to divisional loss. The Jets playing their first game under Jeff Ulbrich largely lost due to a last-minute interception caused by Williams running a wrong route.
The Jets went from chasing a top spot in AFC East to a poor 2-4 record, dropping to third position behind Miami Dolphins. Rodgers further made a large mess with a somewhat ‘unkind’ explanation on the Pat McAfee Show.
Amid the direct criticism, Mike Williams is now associated with some teams after the Jets roped in Rodgers’ former teammate Davante Adams last week. It might be the reason behind Williams publicly admitting being fine with Aaron Rodgers’ statement. Per Rich Cimini of ESPN.com, Williams admitted that he should have stayed on the red line.
I just have to be on the red line
Mike Williams said
Williams shared that Rodgers took the initiative to have a one-on-one talk about what happened on Monday night. The ex-Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver didn’t go into much detail about their discussion.

Williams enters the new week as probably WR4 behind the newly acquired Adams, Garett Wilson, and Allen Lazard. Adams’ addition, something Williams mentioned as exciting, has already bought some much-needed buzz to the Jets.
The addition of two trusted ex-colleagues of Rodgers has allegedly made things a bit tougher for the wide receiver in East Rutherford. The recent mistake that led to losing a crucial game should have made some nicks in the chemistry between QB1 and Williams.
Pittsburgh Steelers reached out to the New York Jets for Mike Williams
Pittsburgh Steelers have been in hunt for a wide receiver for some time now. They had been behind Brandon Aiyuk all through the offseason before Aiyuk stayed with the San Francisco 49ers.
They had followed the Davante Adams trade route as well. After failing to launch two options, the Steelers have opened up their choices to Mike Williams.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Steelers have “basically scoured the Earth” for another wide receiver since the offseason. The dire need has grown in size since, as George Pickens is the only Pittsburgh receiver with over 200 receiving yards this season. Out of their top eight pass-catchers, only Pickens and Calvin Austin are averaging more than 10 yards per catch.
The Steelers are facing some competition from the Los Angeles Chargers as well as the New Orleans Saints. The Saints who started 2-0, lost five games in quick succession. The Saints are on the lookout to bring some spark into their offense and reclaim the lost momentum.
The Los Angeles Chargers also have a potential opportunity to bring back the player. With the NFL trade deadline fast approaching at 4 p.m. ET on November 5th, time is running out.
