What is the number of matches in the MLB playoffs?

In the initial stage of the playoffs, both leagues consist of four teams each. Participating in the event are the division winner ranked the lowest and the three wildcard teams. There will be a three-game competition where those teams will be playing against each other. The organizing duties for the series will be taken on by the team with a superior ranking.

The outcome of these games will determine whether the team progresses to the ALDS or NLDS. The maximum number of games needed to declare a winner in a series is three. The current round includes four teams in every group, engaging in matches against each other. Automatically, the top two teams in the main divisions skip the first round of the competition. Two additional winners are determined in the wild-card rounds.
