Aaron Judge is back, and he is feeling quite grateful for it. Ever since his uncertainty about his future with the Yankees, Judge has been facing a tough time. However, it is during times like these that a little bit of encouragement always pays off- even if it is just at a Grapefruit League Game.

The new Captain of the New York Yankees made his debut in front of a crowd that appreciated him to the fullest. After securing a nine-year contract, it certainly came as a relief to Judge to experience the feeling of being called out again. “Hearing your name get called for the New York Yankees never gets old,” Judge said

“If it’s in Tampa, if it’s in New York, that’s something I didn’t want to stop hearing once I became a free agent. I was hoping to hear those words again. It was an exciting moment.” This comes soon after a rather historic season for Judge and MLB as a whole. Judge managed to break Roger Maris’ record after hitting an impressive 62 home runs.

Soon after, Judge became a free agency with the Giants and the Yankees pursuing him like no other team. The battle was intense and lasted over a month or two, but eventually the Yankees got to him. With a high price and a long term contract in hand, Judge had secured his place to continue to make history.

Judge finally realised the good of what he signed up for when he came for practice. “I felt it with the intros, I felt it on defense, I felt it stepping up to the plate,” he said. “It’s things like that that you really cherish at the ballpark.”  He was met with intrigue and interest whenever he played, as people watched his every move.

The almost 10,000 audience members gasped at his every move, waiting to see what is in store next. Even though his play time was not that long, Judge got a taste of his treatment for the next 9 years. This has definitely set the mood for the rest of the season, and excitement is the name of the game now.

“I like it,” he said. “I think you can play around with it a little bit. It definitely speeds up the game. Anything that keeps the pitcher moving and on the go and hopefully keep them out of breath, I’m looking forward to,” said Judge.
