In the match against the Texas Rangers on Thursday night, the New York Yankees were given a major blow. Captain Aaron Judge exited the game with some discomfort around his right hip. While the injury may not be a major concern, Judge has been sent for an MRI scan on his right hip. This could likely keep him out for a few games.
Judge did not feature in his side’s 5-2 loss to the Rangers on Friday night. The team manager Aaron Boone has suggested that he has no idea how long Judge will be sidelined but assured him that the issue does not seem to be serious. Judge struck out in his two at-bats on Thursday and was substituted in the field in the fourth inning.
Judge got injured while trying to steal third base in the matchup against the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday. He had an awkward head-first slide which saw his shoulders stumble forward and his right hand was caught in the dirt beneath his body. He would head straight down the tunnel. This injury could have caused some discomfort which he faced in the game against the Rangers.

Will Jake Bauers be called up to the majors to replace Aaron Judge?
They say one man’s loss is another man’s gain. Injuries are the most common part of any sport. Nobody wants to get injured while playing but it is inevitable that one day someone has to sit out. In this case, the Yankees are losing their star player and captain Aaron Judge. However, there are reports that they are planning to call up top prospect Jake Bauers to the majors.
Replacing a player of Judge’s caliber is not a piece of cake. Bauers who is said to be on the taxi squad is waiting for the test results of Judge. The minor league player has been in red-hot form this season. Playing for the Scranton Wilkes-Barre, Bauers has been batting at an average of .319, an OBP of .460, and a slugging percentage of .812. He has already slammed nine home runs and has collected twenty RBIs.
If the Yankees do not go with Bauers, the likely candidates to replace Judge are Oswaldo Cabrera, Franchy Cordero, Aaron Hicks, and Isiah Kiner-Falefa. Not discrediting their abilities but the four have not lived up to the expectations.
All of them have had dull offensive starts to the 2023 season. Cordero started the season brightly with four home runs in his first seven games of the season. His form has dipped though and he has not managed to reach base in any of his last seven games.
This is the best chance the Yankees have got to promote the 27-year-old minor league player. The Yankee fans would certainly like to see him get a chance to show off his potential and how bad it could be compared to the four mentioned above.
