The excitement for the new MLB season keeps on rising by each passing day. With the Spring training almost in touching distance, players are eager to get start. One of them is Aaron Judge, who is now looking for a head start this year following a disastrous 2023 season.

The New York Yankees captain had an impressive showing in 2022 as the broke the American League record for the most home-runs in a regular season. He was hoping for similar performances in 2023. However, the previous year turned out to be one of the most disappointing in team’s history. Judge has now opened up about it and admitted that a lot of guys were embarrassed because of this.

After a hot-start to the season, the team began to flatter in April when Judge got injured. Starting pitcher Nestor Cortes had a dismay run as he struggled from the mound. The offense of the team also went silent in their captain’s absence.

Things got worse in June when the 2022 American League MVP injured his toe during a game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Despite his return to the team later on the Yanks were unable to recover from this stumble and finished the season with an 82-80 record and missed the playoffs.

A lot of guys were embarrassed. A lot of guys didn’t have the season they wanted. I think collectively as a group, we looked at each other like. This can’t happen again

Judge has now backed his teammates to regroup and said they are a “dedicated group“. A few days ago, GM Brian Cashman gave the Yankees a rally cry and urged them to push for the World Series crown. It will be interesting to see how the team bounces back this year after the 2023 season.

Aaron Judge hints at “another move” for Yankees in offseason

In the MLB offseason, the New York Yankees have been super active and have acquired some big names in Marcus Stroman, Juan Soto and Alex Verdugo. They might not be done yet though as Aaron Judge has hinted at the team making “another move” in the upcoming days.

While the Yankee batting lineup seems ready to go with a new-looking Giancarlo Stanton leading the way with Judge, Soto and Verdugo, the pitching department is something that they have been targeting. Recently, the team acquired veteran reliever Caleb Ferguson from the LA Dodgers.

The name that is connected with the Yankees in the past few days if of Blake Snell. The 2023 National League Cy Young Award winner is still a free agent and the Yankees’ interest in him has increased.

I hope so. They're always working on something... I definitely feel like there might be another move on the way, but you never know. We'll see.

Only time will tell whether the Yanks will actually be able to land Snell and bolster their pitching rotation. Until then, the team will be taking part in the Spring training with the first game seeing them face the Detroit Tigers on Friday.
