After being handed two back-to-back defeats at the hands of their rivals the Texas Rangers, the Houston Astros bounced back in Game 3. The reigning champions picked up an important victory to start the road trip and gave themselves another fighting chance. Former MLB great Alex Rodriguez has now backed the Astros for their champion mentality.
Widely recognized around the globe through his moniker of A-Rod, the Ex-Yankee star now works as an analyst for Fox. He was joined by Kevin Burkhardt, David Ortiz, and former teammate Derek Jeter. While discussing the game, A-Rod praised the efforts put in by the star players of the Astros.
Recently Jeter spoke about how his team (New York Yankees) were once 3-0 up in a series and ended up losing. While it brought out laughter among the crew as Ortiz reminded them of the dark past, it was worth noting that Jeter’s words were indeed true.
A-Rod would applaud the answer by pitcher Cristian Javier and took examples of Jose Altuve and Yordan Alvarez. He said, “When you look at that interview Kevin, and you see his humility, you see his tone, you see the same thing with Alvarez and Altuve. These guys are champions for a reason, they have a quite confidence and these guys have been through a lot in the past five or six years…“

Cristian Javier dominates in Game 3 to propel Astros to 8-5 win
Having lost the first two games, the Astros could not have afforded another defeat. They went up against a family foe in the form of Max Scherzer who was making his first start in over a month. The veteran pitcher was not fully fit just like Game 7 of the 2019 World Series against the Astros, but still decided to go out and perform in Arlington.
For the Astros, it was Cristian Javier who took charge. In his previous three postseason games, he had not allowed a single run. He was in for another wild night as he pitched 5 2/3 innings while giving up just two runs through three hits. His first hit came after he had already recorded 14 outs, signaling his dominance on the mound.
Things did not work out well for Scherzer as he gave up five runs including a solo home to Jose Altuve. This turned out to be the Astros’ hitter’s 25th postseason home run as he continued to climb of ranks of MLB greats. Home runs from Yordan Alvarez and Martin Maldonaldo saw the visitors half the deficit to 2-1.
The Rangers would be hoping to forget this quickly and take advantage of home field in the next two games. A win for them in Game 4 will put all the pressure back on the Astros but a win for them would the series being leveled. It is hard to predict who will come out on top from this series.
