Anthony Rendon refuses to comment on altercation with fan amid investigation
The Angels third baseman citied official league investigation as reason for refusing to comment

Following the altercation with a fan on opening day, Los Angeles Angels‘ Anthony Rendon on Saturday refused to make a comment. The third baseman cited the ongoing investigation into the matter as the reason for staying quiet. The franchise’s official staff also refused to give a statement on the situation.
Going 0-for-4 at the game, frustration got the better of Rendon. Making his way back to the locker room, Rendon found himself in a verbal argument with an A’s fan and later attempted to have a swing at him. The whole situation would soon go viral through a video on social media that shows Rendon grabbing the fan and confronting him.
The 12-second viral video shows Rendon claimed that the A’s fan abused him first. Despite the fan denying the allegations, Rendon stood by his ground and further argued that the fan did call him a b—- and exchanged a few more verbal abuse and tried to swing a hand at the fan which he missed. A few of his teammates watched the scene but refused to step in.

”We are aware of the video and we are now looking into the matter,” the MLB said in a statement. However, no evidence as of yet has been found which would explain how this situation erupted in the first place. The Oakland PD has also started an investigation into the matter.
Rendon who was stated to explain his actions before the game on Saturday did not make a comment citing an official investigation. It was no surprise that the third baseman was serenaded by boos by the home faithful at the Colesiusm as he took to the plate for his first-at-bat following the incident.
Despite the controversy revolving around Rendon, the Angels bounced back in great fashion as they thumped the Athletics 13-1 to avenge their opening-day defeat. Taylor Ward smashed a home run and drove in four runs as the Angels scored an astonishing 11 times in the third inning and spoiled Shintaro Fujinami’s MLB debut.
Talisman Shohei Ohtani drove in two RBIs with two hits. Where else Gio Urshela, Jake Lamb, and rookie catcher Logan O’Hoope cashed in two runs each as the team avoided losing their first two games of the season for the 2nd straight season.
