On Monday, Los Angeles Angels’ star Anthony Rendon was handed a suspension of four-game following his altercation with the A’s fan. The third baseman lost his cool while making his back into the locker room. A’s video that has been circling around the globe on social media sees Rendon exchanging some words with the fan before trying to get physical with him.

Major League Baseball (MLB) senior vice president for on-field operations. Michael Hill announced this decision on Monday. Rendon was originally suspended for a total of five games, however, he was quick to react and filed his appeal which was accepted. The suspension laid on him will begin immediately and will see the third baseman miss the series against the Seattle Mariners.

Following this incident, Rendon was scheduled to give an explanation for his actions before the Angels took on the Athletics on Saturday. However, Rendon refused to offer any statement related to the matter while citing an official investigation by MLB as the reason. The team and their backroom staff refused to make any comments as well.

In the viral video, a frustrated Rendon can be seen confronting an A’s fan for abusing him. Despite the fan denying claims of any such action, Rendon continued to argue with the fan. After using some foul language, Rendon would attempt to swing at the fan but missed him. A few Angels players were spotted watching the drama unfold but refused to take any part in it.

Despite these off-field tensions, the Angels came back roaring and clinched the series by thumping the Athletics 13-1 and 6-0 in the next two outings. In his first at-bat after this incident, saw Rendon welcomed by boos all around the Colesium.

The Angels scored eleven times in an enormous third inning as Taylor Ward smashed his first home run of the season and drove in four runs on Saturday. Back-to-back home runs by superstars, Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani made sure the Angels cruised towards an easy 6-0 win on Sunday.

On Monday night, the Angels showed that even without Rendon they could do damage. Taylor Ward and Ohtani both grabbed their second home runs of the season as they powered their team to a 6-3 win over the Seattle Mariners.

The team much to their fairness has never relied too much on Rendon who himself has struggled with fitness. Having signed a mega $245 million seven-year deal in 2019. The third baseman has a mere .250 average with .776 OPS in 158 games with the Angels.

The Angels will look to continue their momentum to clinch the series against the Mariners on Tuesday. A victory in that game would make it four wins in a row. Rendon would be looking from some way far and will also miss the Angels’ first match against the Toronto Blue Jays.
