“BEST NEWS EVER”: Arte Moreno laying down Los Angeles Angels on the market, Twitter MLB expressed relief

Arturo “Arte” Moreno, popularly known as, Arte Moreno became the first Mexican-American to own a Major Sports team in the United States when he purchased the Anaheim Angels (Los Angeles Angels) baseball team from the Walt Disney Company on May 15th, 2003.

The discussions started to grow that Arte Moreno wanted to put the franchise on sale before the confirmation kicked in through ESPN’s MLB insider Jeff Passan, who was the first to report the breaking news. Many Angels and fans across the game of baseball reacted to the shocking news.

And to everyone’s knowledge, majority of the responses where in favor of a new ownership as they felt Arte Moreno was the person to hold back the success LA Angels could have had. Moreno and his group have retained Galatioto Sports Partners as a financial adviser in the process.

“He’s had enough,” said one of Arte Moreno’s peers after the Angels’ news broke. “I think he’s gotten frustrated with the stadium situation, he’s not a big fan of [commissioner] Rob [Manfred] and he’s got a s—ty team that’s going to be bad for a long time.”

The potential for a change in ownership for the Los Angeles Angels will be interesting to watch unfold, “Today, Angels Baseball announced that the Organization has initiated a formal process to evaluate strategic alternatives including a possible sale of the team.

Owner Arte Moreno stated, “It has been a great honor and privilege to own the Angels for 20 seasons. As an organization, we have worked to provide our fans an affordable and family-friendly ballpark experience while fielding competitive line-ups which included some of the game’s all-time greatest players.”

Throughout this process, we will continue to run the franchise in the best interest of our fans, employees, players, and business partners.”
