“Greeting them in their native language”- Justin Verlander communicated through MIDDLE FINGER with Philly fans after Astros dominated Game 2
Justin Verlander
The Houston Astros ace Justin Verlander made a dramatic entry by flipping the bird to a fan, who allegedly got in his way with some trash to blurt out at him. The Phillies fans were rather taken aback by the show and raised eyebrows at the star. Guess, he just went with the flow without thinking it through, all in a light sense though.
However, Justin Verlander came forward with a well-established explanation saying that the flip was meant to be in humor and amusement. He said that he rather enjoyed the banter and loved to hear people treat him in his mother tongue. Come on now Justin, everyone knows what that was!!
Justin Verlander recently came to Philadelphia, welcomed for Games 3-5 of the MLB 2022 World Series meant to be hosted in the Citizen Bank Park. The fans went gaga over the player performing on the fields but were slightly disappointed at first since Game 3 had to be delayed due to bad weather conditions.
No harm no foul as Justin Verlander explains his side of the story
Justin cared to tweet soon after the incident to explain his side. He wrote, “All the context Darren… The whole interaction was in jest as all the fans around you were just saying hello in their native tongue”. This could have turned out into a bad situation for Justin but he kind of managed it afterward, thus saving him the embarrassment.
Justin further added that he enjoyed replying in the kind as he follows the motto – ‘when in Rome, do as Romans do’. He quoted – “All in good fun. I enjoyed the banter. Also, nobody broke the window. Was just like that.” Looks like Justin Verlander was indeed having some fun or are the tweets just saving face? Guess, we’ll never know.
The rush of fans waiting outside was rather large and the flip-off video floated throughout the internet soon after. All in all, it does appear to be a funny incident. The fans too didn’t shy away from joking about the tweet as well. Some even shouted at the spot, “Oh, that was great,” and Justin’s Philadelphia entry by giving the middle finger seemed similar to the Phillies pummeling Astros in Game 1.
