The star of Bryce Harper continues to shine even brighter as every day passes. The Philadelphia Phillies slugger has been one of the most important players of this generation. He has time and again become their knight and come up clutch. These performances have made him one of the best in the business right now. However, this would have never happened if he had not taken the risks in his early days.

Harper recently sat down for a chat with Pat McAfee. At the Pat McAfee show, he remembered the old days and explained how the biggest risk of this all was dropping out of school to prepare for professional baseball. Leaving his studies in the middle was a very big gamble which he took, something he called “immense pressure”.

I dropped out of high school at 16… That was the pressure. I have to be the #1 pick. If I am not I’m a failure. I have to be able to get my family out and take care of them… Now all of this? This is cake… The pressure is all behind me,” Harper said.

He has been in the spotlight as of late once again for his performances and a comment from Orlando Arcia. The Atlanta Braves man made a joke regarding Harper in the clubhouse following their Game 2 win. However, the comment soon got leaked and Harper heard it and dealt with it in his own way. While he did the talking on the field, he did share a cold staredown with Arcia.

Our whole team has a vibe. Every single guy in our clubhouse is meant to play in Philly,” Harper said regarding the clubhouse. He later applauded the fans as well. “They’ll let you know when you’re playing bad, but they will let you know when you’re playing well also,” he said in regards to the fanbase. This was also seen when the Philly crowd gave Trea Turner a loud standing ovation. Since then Turner turned his season around and became one of their main players this year.

Another example with the Phillies clubhouse was highlighted by the recent comments by Nick Castenallos. His “I f*** with Philly” saw raw emotions burst out from this side.

Harper, Castellanos, and the others are now preparing for a second straight National League Championship Series (NLCS). Last season they knocked out the San Diego Padres to reach the World Series where they lost to the Houston Astros. This season they will be hoping to do one better than that and get their hands on the giant trophy. To reach there they will first have to navigate past the Arizona Diamondbacks. This matchup promises to be a thrilling watch for the fans.
