“The shot heard round the world”- David Vassegh breaks multiple bones after ride at Brewer’ ballpark

David Vassegh
David Vassegh, a Dodgers reporter, broke multiple bones in his body on the ride at the Brewers’ ballpark on Wednesday after taking a spin down the renowned slide at American Family Field. The incident took place just before Milwaukee and the Dodgers played in the stadium in Wisconsin.
Vassegh intended to cross off a dream of his by eventually riding down Bernie’s Chalet in centre field, but as the journalist came to a stop on the ride, everything went horribly wrong. On Thursday morning, Dodgers player Justin Turner made fun of Vassegh’s situation by hilariously delineating the outline of the reporter’s body up near the slide location.

We are amazed by your toughness David Vassegh

A video of David Vassegh’s slide reveals that he did not complete the slide feet first and instead crashed against the wall, leaving his arm and back exposed. The video clearly shows that Vassegh was in excruciating pain right away. In fact, the fall caused him to break his arm and fracture six ribs. However, the guy managed to return to the field while wearing a cast and finish the task!
Joe Davis and Nomar Garciaparra, the Dodgers’ commentators, laughed until they were inconsolable at the error, and Vassegh, to his credit, handled the whole situation with class on television. The athletes that Vassegh covers, meantime, were amazed by his toughness; catcher Austin Barnes claimed following their 2-1 victory that they were filling in for the hurt reporter. “We all rallied today for you,” said Austin Barnes
No word yet on whether Vassegh will need to take any further time off to completely heal, but get well soon!
