The Los Angeles Dodgers once again received the wrath of fans on Friday. The Dodgers invited The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence to the stadium to receive a Community Hero Award before the start of the game against the San Francisco Giants.

Fans were quite enraged that the Dodgers invited them and as a sign of protest surrounded the main entrance with posters of “Stop anti-Catholic hate” and “God will not be mocked.”

For context, the entire controversy started a month ago with the organization going back and forth on their invitation to the Sisters of the Perpetual Indulgence but making the decision to honor them at their 10th annual Pride Night in the end. Fans are totally against his LGBTQ rights group because they dress in drag as nuns, which is anti-Catholic according to the majority of people.

Higher members of the Catholic church from different sections were quite disappointed with the Dodgers and issued a statement against a pro baseball team, saying that the nuns in drag were offensive and a complete mockery of the faith.

The Dodgers stadium was practically empty as the Sisters were receiving the award on Pride Night. As expected, fans on social media had strong-worded comments against the team for tolerating the mockery of Catholics and celebrating the people who do so.

The Dodgers received a letter of objection from a Senator back in May

When the Dodgers first invited the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, they received a lot of backfire from fans and Senator Marco Rubio of Florida as well. Senator Rubio wrote a detailed letter to Major League Baseball executives and said that the Sister stimulate “perversion of Jesus’s command to ‘go, and sin no more.’”

After this letter, the Dodgers uninvited the Sisters and were on the receiving end of harsh comments from Equality California and LA Pride both of which are LGBTQ activist groups. The Dodgers apologized on May 22nd and planned to reinvite the Sister to the event and honor them.

Not just the fans but even the Dodgers’ own star Clayton Kershaw was unhappy with the team’s decision to invite the Sisters to the stadium. He said via the Los Angeles Times, “This has nothing to do with the LGBTQ community or Pride or anything like that. This is simply a group that was making fun of a religion, that I don’t agree with.”
