Kacie Hosmer, the wife of first baseman Eric Hosmer, who was traded to the Boston Red Sox before the MLB trade deadline, wrote a farewell letter to the San Diego Padres on Tuesday. Kacie, who is expecting her first child with Hosmer, thanked the club and its supporters “for such wonderful memories” in a post she shared on her Instagram Story.
“Thank you so much to all of our teammates who will be forever family!” Kacie, 32, began. “Our nearly 5 years in San Diego were so special. Thank you to the @padres organization and the fans for such wonderful memories!”
Eric Hosmer makes the switch and its homecoming for Kacie Hosmer
Hosmer, a 2016 All-Star, made his MLB debut in May 2016 with the Kansas City Royals, where he also began his professional career. He agreed to an eight-year, $144 million deal with the Padres around two years later. With the acquisition of Nationals standout Juan Soto, the Padres are possibly the biggest beneficiaries of this year’s trade deadline. Originally intended to be part of the transaction, Hosmer opted not to waive his no-trade clause, which would have sent him to Washington.
Eric Hosmer’s arrival in Boston will mark Kacie’s return to the city after previously working for NESN and covering sports there. In 2019, she made known that she was leaving the network. The Hosmers, who got married on New Year’s Eve at the opulent Breakers resort in Palm Beach, Florida, have had quite the year. Early in April, the couple made their September baby’s gender public, saying they’re having a baby boy.
