“That ball is hammered”: Giancarlo Stanton absolutely pounded a Home Run, merited with All-Star MVP

Giancarlo Stanton has recently proved to be a beast with his upper body balance, delivering pitches deep down fields, that too with minimal body movement. A clean-cut scenario. His titanic fourth-inning blast erased the National League’s two-run lead and gave him the very much deserving Ted Williams Award as the Chevrolet All-Star Game Most Valuable Player on Tuesday night.

Giancarlo Stanton’s hit at Dodger Stadium off Dodgers right-hander Tony Gonsolin went a soaring 457 feet and nearly cleared the bleachers. After Stanton, Byron Buxton hit a solo shot which took the American League to a 3-2 win and a ninth consecutive victory in the Midsummer Classic.

“He’s been a great player for a long time,” American League manager Dusty Baker said of Stanton. “The way he’s looking, the way he’s built, he should be around for an awful long time. I just regret that we [the Astros] have to play him in a doubleheader on Thursday, but for today, we’re on the same side.”

“I can’t really explain how special this is,” said Giancarlo Stanton, who grew up 30 minutes from Dodger Stadium. “It’s hard to put into words that this is reality right now. It’s really cool. I’m soaking it all in.”

“When the lights are brightest, that’s what you want to do, that’s what the fans come to see. That’s what we work tireless hours for. I thought, ‘I really want to be here,’ but you’re not just given this opportunity,” Giancarlo Stanton said. “You put that challenge to yourself.”

Yankee team mate Aaron Judge was very proud of Giancarlo Stanton as he gave a easy-going reply to the MVP’s hit, “I have seen that all year; that’s nothing new, he told me he was going to get one here; he didn’t get it in his first at-bat, so he made up for it in the second one, that’s for sure.”

“It was pretty funny,” Aaron Judge added. “That’s why he pointed into the dugout and was laughing a little bit when he was going to first.”
