Hal Steinbrenner in no way wants his franchise fans to fancy a contract extension during the spectacular season show Aaron Judge and the New York Yankees roster have put up in 2022. Aaron Judge and his contract extension has been the hot topic for the past month. The Yankee fans believe they would lose their biggest star to managerial blunder.
The core of the New York Yankee managerial committee, chairman, Hal Steinbrenner addressed the media for the first time since spring training Wednesday. The Yankees are headed to Pittsburgh to face the pirates in a two-game series, amidst the great 16-0 thumping victory recently, Hal Steinbrenner showcased that he would not allow any non-sense on their road to World Series 2022.
Hal Steinbrenner had a concise verdict on Aaron Judge’s contract debate, “No matter what happens during the season, we’re not going to give any updates, we’re just not going to do it. I mean, I completely agree with Aaron that in no way, shape or form can this be a distraction.”
Will Hal Steinbrenner and Aaron Judge eventually end up in their own ball game?
Hal Steinbrenner spoke to The Athletic following the comment issued by Aaron Judge, “In no way, shape or form can [Judge’s contract situation] be a distraction, the sole focus is winning a championship. That’s all anyone needs to worry about right now.”
General manager Brian Cashman told reporters the deal Aaron Judge rejected was for seven years, $213.5 million. Judge said in April when the debate started, “I’ve been vocal about wanting to be a Yankee for life, I want to bring a championship back to New York. I want to do it for the fans here.”
“They’re family. This is home for me, and not getting that done right now, it stinks. But I’ve got a job to do on the field. I’ve got to shift my focus to that and go play some ball.”
Hal Steinbrenner definitely wants the fans to remain silent while they build on the decision upon Judge’s contract conclusion. The New York Yankees have entered their recent game with their best record in the major leagues at 58-23.
Steinbrenner concluded, per The Athletic “Aaron is a great Yankee, and he’s very valuable in this organization, He’s a great leader. Obviously, he’s performing extremely well this year. … Yes, [re-signing Judge is] going to be something we’re going to be looking at and talking about seriously.”
