It seems baseball cannot be separated from the life of Ichiro Suzuki. The MLB legend has kept himself busy with the game despite retiring from the sport, a few years ago. The now 50-year-old former Seattle Mariners and New York Yankees great has stunned the world while throwing a complete game shutout against a high school team.

Throwing a complete game is not an easy feat for any pitcher. So for someone like Suzuki, it was a huge feat as unlike his countryman Shohei Ohtani, not every star is a two-way player.

Considered one of the greatest Japanese players in MLB, he is now back in his home country of Japan. The future Hall of Famer is now doing all he can to help the sport develop more. A few weeks ago it was reported that he crushed a huge home run and crashed the window of a school.

This feat though was completely different. At the age of 50, he would take to the mound against a high school girls team. He would end up throwing a total of 116 pitches. He also managed to pick up nine strikeouts while throwing a top speed of 86 mph. Considering his age and his lack of experience on the mound, this was a huge moment, not just for him but for the girls who enjoyed a memorable time playing with the baseball great.

Social media reactions towards Ichiro Suzuki’s incredible pitching effort

Every fan who grows up watching baseball dreams of hitting home runs and striking out betters in the professional leagues. In the huge history of baseball, the names of Babe Ruth and Shohei Ohtani are the only ones who have been able to do so. Following the recent actions of Ichiro Suzuki, maybe he could have done that too.

Though it would not have been easy for the Japanese legend, Suzuki showed off his arm strength at the age of 50, showing off yet another incredible feat of talent he possess. Fans on social media have been left awestruck by his performance. Some pointed out light-hearted jokes at him while claiming, “Bro is doing side quests.” Check out some reactions regarding this incident from X below:

One astonishing thing from all this was that he went 2-for-5 with the bat. A person known for his hitting capabilities failed to go 5-for-5 and showed off that he is a human after all. The girls high school team was thrilled to get him out and probably made a lasting memory while sharing the pitch with one of their country’s very best.
