High school baseball player Jeremy Medina was declared dead by his family and doctors after suffering from a brain injury on November 20.

On Wednesday, Jeremey Medina’s parents declared that the high school baseball player had been pronounced dead after being unconscious since the November 20 freak incident. Medina got hit in the head during a routine practice session last month at Gainesville High School.
There was no intent behind the hit, as reported by the NY Post. The players were doing their drills inside the athletic faculty when Medani stepped into the scene. According to principal Jamie Green, Medina leaned into the net when “a player followed through on his swing” and it accidentally “struck in the head”.

After being in a coma since the day of the accident, his family this week announced that the high schooler had been removed from life support. According to his wishes, he became an organ donor.
“The life of Jeremey Medina will forever impact the lives of our entire community. His passing will mean renewed life for many others as an organ donor.”The Gainesville City School System said in a statement.

Jeremy Medina’s family thanked fans and the community for their support during these grim times. While describing his son, he recalled him as “a leader on and off the field”. His father reminiscent about the moments spent between a father and son as he said he was different from others.

In a conversation with 11Alive.com, his father noted Jeremy Medina saying “I’m just being me” when his dad would praise him for handling both sports and studying well at the same time. Local WSBTV reported that there was a rally to “Pray 4 Jeremy” organized by Georgia High School, as per People.
According to reports, Medina was both a pitcher and a catcher as a senior on the baseball team. He also got a scholarship for playing college baseball before the tragedy. According to his father David, he wished to become a youth minister while pursuing his baseball dreams.
According to the administrator, his schoolmates were extremely shocked to learn about Medina’s news. The school provided counseling to ease the minds of the students after this chilling incident. Fans online are praying for his soul as they once again learn how dangerous the sports world can get sometimes.
