Los Angeles Angels’ baseman Anthony Rendon irked online fans with his latest comments on MLB season in ‘The Jack Vita Show’. He playfully suggested “to shorten the season…there’s too many dang games” when asked what change he would like to see in baseball.

However, fans were not the only ones enraged by his comments. His former teammate and now ex-MLB player Jonathan Papelbon took to his X platform to blast Rendon. He confirmed as an ex-teammate Rendon has always “literally hates baseball” despite getting a paycheck of $38 million in 2024.

The whole MLB fanbase ripped Anthony Rendon to shreds for making such a comment despite not appearing in more than 60 games in the past seasons. Since penning down a 7-year $245 million contract with LA, he’s not even seen the field that many times. As per reports, he has appeared in 200 games in 4-years with Anaheim. Papelbon noted on X,

Fans react to Anthony Rendon’s comment on shortening the baseball season

Anthony Rendon made it clear during his appearance on ‘The Jack Vita Show’ that “162 games in 185 days” is too much. “We gotta shorten this bad boy up” he noted. Rendon didn’t make field appearances that frequently or as required per season partially due to injuries.

Injuries have played an immense role in keeping him out of the lineup, counting from a fractured left tibia to groin and wrist issues, and even knee, oblique, and hip problems during his LA career. But that’s not all. Rendon was once suspended for grabbing an opposing fan by the shirt and calling him a “m*****f***er”.

The internet fans were not happy when they heard of Rendon’s comment on the MLB season. One X user noted, “he shortens his own seasons to 70 games anyways” while another posted “Bro got his bag and checked out. Pretty pathetic.” One even called him “an entitled spoiled little boy.”

Prior to his $245 million departure, Anthony Rendon played with the Nationals. He started his career with Angles in 2019, but so far his sign-up contract has proven to be a disaster, as per theScore. Although he didn’t want to “get in trouble when I get to spring training”, his comments on the show seem to have fired back.
