Just when things start looking to get better for the New York Yankees, something comes out of the blue that pops out their excitement. After going on one of their worst runs in recent MLB history, the team seemed to be getting back on track. They are now dealt with another blow as pitcher Luis Severino got injured and left the game on Friday night.

Severino has endured a difficult season this time. He would himself claim that at times he felt that he was the worst pitcher in the game. Things were starting to lool good for him as he seemed to be getting back in his form. Unfortunately for him, he had to exit the game in the fifth inning against the Brewers.

Severino was left emotional after the game. “I feel like somebody had shot me,” the pitcher said after the game while trying to hold back his tears. “I’ve been getting better and my whole body was feeling great. I was not expecting this,” he further added.

The Yankee southpaw had another ugly start as he gave a two-run home run to Willy Adames in the third. With him about to hit free agency next season, this could be his last appearance in a Yankee shirt. The severity of his injury could only be determined once the test results are out.

There are some great players in every sport whose potential gets derailed by constant injuries. New York Yankees pitcher Luis Severino is one of them. He has been injured in every season since 2019 which has halted his promising career.

He was at the peak of his power in 2018 when he finished the season with an impressive 19-8 record. For his performances that year he was picked as an All-Star as he continued to keep his cool and blow away the batters. Since then he has a record of 13-12 (4-8 this season) in his 45 starts. Twitter saw mixed reactions following his injury. One user would write “Last pitch as a Yankee” as his contract expires after the season. Here are some reactions regarding this matter.

The loss of Severino was a big one for the Yankees. They ended up losing the game 8-2 as they fell below the .500 win percentage again. This summed up the year they are going through as many players continue to suffer for form and deal with injuries.

The Yanks will now be looking to bounce back from this disappointment on Saturday night. Following the series against the Brewers, they take on their arch-rivals the Boston Red Sox in a four-game series for the final time this year.
