“Definitely the best player”: Luke Voit prefers Manny Machado over Yankees’ Aaron Judge
Manny Machado, Luke Voit and Aaron Judge
San Diego Padres’ designated hitter Luke Voit has played apace with plenty of undying talents, and All-Stars over his career so far, including New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge. Still, he sees that Manny Machado is the clear-cut best player he has tagged along with.
Voit didn’t really play last summer with the New York Yankees unless he had to, adding an air of ashes and pains to his final weeks with the team, as well as his inevitable departure. Whether Voit felt the abrasion or not is up for debate, but he’s flipped the switch since heading to San Diego in March and has now become the new Mr Padre.
In the big picture, one could make an intimidating case that Manny Machado’s ongoing campaign is more accomplished than each of Aaron Judge’s last four seasons, which Voit had a front-row seat to watch. Judge’s high in wRC+ (Weighted Runs Created Plus) over the last four years was a 148 in the 2021 campaign, while Machado currently boasts a 160 wRC+ this year.

Luke Voit remarks Manny Machado foreshadows Yankee star Aaron Judge
In the wake of the Padres’ celebration of Manny Machado for crossing the 1,500-hit threshold before the age of 30, Luke Voit dropped his thoughts into the discussion.
“I’ve obviously played with some great guys in St. Louis and New York, but he’s definitely the best player I’ve played with. I’d tell him and Aaron Judge are two of the best players obviously in the game.” Luke Voit stated such a remark about Manny Machado.
As it stands, Machado ranks in the top five in numerous National League stats, from total hits (77) to runs scored (46). With the way that the Yankees and Padres have been churning out convincing wins as of late, one cannot count out the possibility of the two teams meeting each other in the World Series later this year.
“We got another thumper on our squad, and he has playoff experience,” Machado added on the Padres acquiring Luke Voit when he was traded in March. “He’s going to help us out big time.”
