Manny Machado was a top topic when the trade market opened up in 2018, the current San Diego Padres superstar now revealed that he believed he was going to be traded to New York. Instead, Machado was traded from the Baltimore Orioles to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Although, Manny Machado on the New York Yankees roster?

Manny Machado even told reporters at Dodger Stadium that he was prepared to join the Yankees in 2018, per NJ.com. Imagine, how the Major League would have turned out if Manny Machado joined the New York Yankees, he was familiar with New York since he played there often during his time in Baltimore.

Currently, Manny Machado has found a very comfortable home in San Diego, after a relatively short trip with Los Angeles Dodgers. In 2018, a bunch decided that Manny Machado was worth acquiring as a rental and made offers, seven of them — the Cubs, Braves, Brewers, Diamondbacks, Dodgers, Phillies and Yankees.

It is known to every Manny Machado fan that his favourite player is Alex Rodriguez, from that, the fans can believe how desperate Machado could have been to join Yankees, he said, “I thought I was going there (to New York). I guess the trade didn’t go through and I went to the Dodgers. I don’t really know the full story, but I thought I was going there (Yankees).”

“Me and New York go back a long time,” Machado added. “I played there (for Baltimore) and fans always showed me love. It’s a special place. … I thought I was going there and then it didn’t happen.”

He was then questioned about his thoughts on the current New York Yankee roster, he said, “They’re the No. 1 team in baseball right now, and to see what Judge is doing and my boy Nestor doing a great job … it’s awesome to see.”

It is believed that The Yankees and Manny Machado did meet up in the winter of 2018, but for just 90 minutes on Dec. 19. The Yankees reportedly made a formal offer, but it was underwhelming to Machado and his camp, $220 million for eight years. Machado was chasing $300 million.
