Getting stuck by a playing object in any sport is pretty common. A player might get hit by a ball, a bat, or a glove to name a few. Most of these collisions are unintended (unless someone loses their mind). This impact could prove to be nasty and can sideline a player. Noah Davis was a lucky one as he just avoided a fastball to his head.
This incident took place on Sunday when Davis made his first start. While pitching in the bottom of the second for the Colorado Rockies, he had to rely on his reflexes to save himself. Thankfully he was able to duck just in time to prevent a scary scene. In the incident, the ball took off his cap.
Noah Davis should count himself lucky. They say baseball is a game of inches and it does not get any closer than this. A few days ago, Kyle Farmer was stuck in the face by a Lucas Giolito fastball. The hitter has since undergone oral surgery. It would have been a shame had Davis gotten injured so early into the game.

The ball was stuck by the bat of Theoscar Hernandez. Davis turned his head just in the nick of time to avoid serious damage. Noah had to settle for a no-decision in his first start. He pitched five scoreless innings, giving up three hits and three walks. He also stuck five batters out before being relieved of his duty.
Well, Twitter spares no one. Davis might have gotten off the hook but fans on social media were quick to react to this. Some showed their genuine concerns regarding the incident, while some had a light fun to this scenario. Here are some reactions.
Although Davis had a strong outing for his team, they were unable to covert it into a win. Jarred Kelenic continued his great form as he got the game-winning RBI. The Mariners completed the sweep of the Rockies with this 1-0 win.
Kelenic extended his hitting streak to 10 games. Things are starting to get back together for the Mariners. They would be hoping this run of form continues as they bid for successive postseason spots.
