Being an Oakland Athletics fan could be painful these days. The team is clearly struggling. They currently own the worst record in the major league this season with 4-18. Things took to a new low on Saturday in their devasting 18-3 loss at the hands of the Texas Rangers. The A’s now have a -100 run differential.

This is said to be the worst run differential in the first 21 games. The Athletics just don’t look like a competitive team anymore. Starting pitcher Shintaro Fujinami threw 2.1 innings and gave up eight runs. The bullpen guys did not help as well as they surrender 10 more runs. Pitching is one of their major concerns. They are rock bottom in almost every pitching category and it’s easy to see why.

Their batting lineup also has some questions. They are currently without any feature name after selling some of the big names. Things have escalated off the pitch as well as they are in talks of taking the team out of Oakland and shifting to Las Vegas.

The conversation of moving the Athletics away from Oakland to Las Vegas has sparked a few debates. A’s legend Reggie Jackson pointed fingers at the city of Oakland and their government for agreeing to this deal. Jackson, who won three straight world series with the A’s during 1972-1974 ripped the officials for failing to keep a team in Oakland.

You lost the Warriors. You lost the Raiders. What the hell’s wrong with you? You cant see that coming? They lost all three of them,” a furious Jackson told Sportico.

Losing the Athletics would see the city of Oakland lose their third professional team in five years. They would follow the Raiders and the Golden State Warriors. A binding agreement has already been signed by the team owners. The A’s proposed a stadium redevelopment in 2010 but the project never hit its mark.

In 2021, Major League Baseball (MLB) allowed the A’s to explore new ballparks for their relocation process. The Las Vegas stadium is likely to be constructed by 2027. The $1.5 billion project will have a 30,000-crowd capacity with a retractable roof. How the A’s could use some of the money for transfers. As predicted, they are bottom of their standings with 10.5 games behind the top.
