After a very long time, Oneil Cruz has come in for the Pittsburgh Pirates as one of the most prominent youngsters. In his past appearances, he has convinced the fans that he can hit the ball extremely hard while showing elite sprint speeds. He is 6 foot 7 inches just like Aaron Judge, and also athletic enough to pace himself at 112.9 mph.
Pittsburgh Pirates shortstop Oneil Cruz is just what MLB needed. He already broke the record for the hardest throw by an infielder this season, at 96.7 mph, in his first game of the 2022 season in MLB.
He is a physical specimen, an example of that was seen in his first game for the Pirates, his athleticism is something that can inspire the younger audience. The slumbering franchise Pittsburgh Pirates were indeed looking for a strong and positive figure like Oneil Cruz.

Is Oneil Cruz the star MLB’s next generation needed?
Cruz is confident with the abilities he has, in just a couple of games in which he has been called for, Cruz already has a .333 average and a stolen base, not to mention his five RBIs.
MLB’s official Twitter account posted some quotes by him: Oneil Cruz told The Athletic that “you are going to see a lot of balls hit hard and a lot of balls travelling very far.”
At his peak, it is not tough with his immense raw power to see him hit 35-40 four-daggers in a season but for that he would need to learn the differentiation between balls and strikes, and that will likely take some time.

Baseball Prospectus prospect writer Jarrett Seidler said this week upon Oneil Cruz’s performance, “It’s worth noting that Cruz isn’t just going to be the biggest regular shortstop in MLB history, he’s going to be the biggest by a wide margin, there’s never been a regular shortstop listed above 6-foot-4. Cruz is every bit of 6-foot-7, which is the same height as Aaron Judge, and three inches taller than Seager, Tatis, and Correa. So that’s just completely uncharted waters.”
