The new season of Major League Baseball has seen various changes. New rules from pitching to fielding to base-running have been introduced. Another aspect that has taken the baseball world by storm is the City Connect program.
Since 2021, Nike has been in close contact with MLB teams to help them design their desired uniform. These jerseys are made under the name of City Connect, an alternative brand name.
The reason for its popularity among fans has been the different color schemes it uses to create a unique theme-based uniform. This feature, it creates a completely different kit compared to the regular home and away ones. The Seattle Mariners were next in line to unveil their unique City Connect jersey.
Twenty of the third available teams have already signed with his program. On Friday, the Mariners became the seventeenth team different team to introduce a City Connect jersey. The Mariners are reported to have been working with the designers since early 2021.
The team took to their official YouTube channel to make this announcement. The club is said to pay their honor to the past Mariners. “We wanted to take Seattle baseball past and package it up in a way, in a look that would be bold and peaceful,” said Mariners senior VP Kevin Martinez.

The excitement and anticipation for the Mariners to drop their City Connect jersey were destroyed a week ago. This was because of the fact that images of socks and jerseys had been leaked on social media a week ago. There was still some element of surprise for the fans as pants and caps had not been leaked yet.
The theme the team chose for the uniform was about time. The Seattle Mariners heavily focused at the “Past Presents Future” slogan. Ever since the announcement, fans on social media have gone wild and have passed various comments regarding it. Here are some of the Twitter reactions regarding the jersey.
The uniform features blue and yellow colour. This is done to honor Seattle’s original MLB team, the Pilots. They were present in the majors for only one year in 1969. The cap features a new modernized version of the Mariners’ trident, consisting of the royal blue crown. The team is set to use these them for the first time on May 5 when they face the Houston Astros.
Speaking of the season, the Mariners lost to the Blue Jays taking their record to 11-15. They would be hoping for a quick change in fortune as they find themselves four games behind the Texas Rangers in the AL West standings.
