After their victory over the Washington Nationals on Wednesday, the Tampa Bay Rays scripted a modern-day record in MLB. The 2020 American League Champions have made a fantastic start which has seen them yet to concede a defeat. The Rays have cruised to each of their wins by a margin of at least four runs.
As per the official MLB website, the run of six consecutive wins by a margin of at least more than four runs is a record. No team has accomplished this feat, going all the way back to 1884 when baseball began. Such a great start so early in the season has made the Rays a team to watch out for.
The Rays’ magnificent start has seen them on top of stats as well. They led the Majors for the most runs scored with 44. Defensively, they are at the same level as the Los Angeles Dodgers for the second-best record.
They have only conceded 13 runs so far. The Minnesota Twins have done better in that record, giving up just 11 runs. The Rays’ run differential of +31 is also the best in MLB. To top it off, they have slammed 13 home runs in their first six games.
The Rays. who are now the only undefeated team, will take on the Oakland Athletics on Friday. It will be their third series of the season having faced the Detroit Tigers and Nationals before. The Athletics will go into that game having lost both of their series so far, to the Los Angeles Angels and the Cleveland Guardians.

Tampa Bay Rays off to a historic start with 6 straight wins
What the Rays have achieved so far is worthy of acknowledgment. They have some great starts in MLB history and it would be interesting to see if they can match or surpass that. In 1982, the Atlanta Braves hoped on to a 13-0 start.
This run led to them finishing with an 89-73 record. Despite this great start, the Braves failed to make it through the World Series as they lost to the Cardinals in the NLCS.
Five years later this feat was achieved once again as the AL team Milwaukee Brewers went hot. After losing their first game, the Brewers continued their form and saw them race to a 20-3 record. Things went downhill after that as they lost their next 12 games. Perhaps luck played a factor in their start. They would go on to finish the season with a 91-71 record which was not enough to make it through the playoffs.
This start is already a franchise record. The previous longest winning start they had was three games in 2022, 2012, and 2002. They have only managed to start 2-0 in two seasons (2021 and 2010).
With a home series against the A’s, the Rays could have another positive result if they continue to play their cards right. Will the Rays finally go all the way, it is too early to say but never say never.
